Willow Partners is an affordable and senior housing developer that worked with the city in 2004 to build the first phase of Kearney Palms, a senior housing complex on West Kearney Boulevard. The developer expanded the complex twice in 2007 and 2010.
Willow Partners’ new complex is open to people of all ages.
Hacienda Heights has two- and three-bedroom apartments. Each unit has two bathrooms and a patio or balcony. Common areas include a community room with kitchen and a learning center with computers.
The first residents moved in Dec. 14. A grand opening celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 5.
“There is high demand (for new housing) and for the amenities we’re showcasing for the community such as after-school tutoring,” said Alicia Velasquez, the site manager.
While under construction, the development attracted 350 families who signed an interest list. More than 200 families applied and were interviewed.
Those who were chosen “are able to live in a luxury community yet pay affordable rent,” Velasquez said. “I have families here who were in tears when we walked them into their rooms because this looks like a resort.”
The monthly rent ranges from $336 to $835.
