Real Estate: Fresno foreclosures inching back up

Fresno County foreclosures jumped up in June after a steep fall the month before, according to a monthly foreclosure report from RealtyTrac.

Last month, the number of Fresno properties that received a foreclosure filing increased 75% compared to May, but was 52% lower than June 2012, the report said.

Nationwide it’s a different story. Foreclosure filings fell 14% to its lowest level since December 2006 despite a 34% jump in in judicial states — those states where a lender must take a borrower to court to have a judge sign off on the foreclosure.

California is a nonjudicial state where the lender has the legal power to begin a foreclosure out of court if a borrower is behind on the mortgage.
